A post yesterday about the Sky Redline got me thinking about what cars are on your "I shouldn't want this car, but I do." list?
Granted there are fans of just about everything out there somewhere, but there are a few "uncool" cars I want for whatever reason. They include such gems as:
Chrysler Crossfire SRT6
Saturn Sky Redline
Dodge Stealth r/t / Mitsu 300GT VR4
Plymouth Prowler
Not that these cars are terrible (well, an argument could be made for the Prowler being terrible), but they're not the usual fare either. Not muscle/pony cars, not really sports cars for the most part, not cool vintage iron, just kind of unloved "also ran"s. So, what's on your list?

What is wrong with a SAturn Sky Redline?
2.0 Turbo that lifts the wheels between shifts? I'm not bullshitting you, with the turbo upgrade kit they lifted the front wheels into second gear....
Also, I worked on a Prowler today, comfy as hell seats. unfortunately Auto but was the 3.5 Liter.

I really want the following for some reason
Gremiln (not sure if it really counts as "cool vintage iron")
Geo Storm (pretty sure it would be a fun little FWD miata fighter)
Reliant K (because of that 10 second turbocharged one)
Subaru Baja

There's nothing WRONG with it, it's just one of those overlooked/unloved cars. I think all Saturns carry this stigma. Cheap cars with plastic bodies that run forever isn't a bad thing in my book, but it apparently is in many peoples.

I would love to get a Sky Redline, the Kappa platform is insane, could have been a Miata Killer, probably is a Miata Killer stock for stock.....GM definitely made soemthing special.
One person I know compared them to the Corvette and basically said "The Sky and Solstice handle so much better, they feel like GoKarts."

Chevy SSR. Ten year old me saw it and loved it, and so 20 year old me still does.

A 4 wheel drive, diesel truck. With loud exhaust (not stacks) and performance upgrades.

I like malaise era cars. They have good frames good axles, and solid engine blocks that can be built up later.
You can chop the exhaust off and advanve the timing to enjoy some power from the low compression big blocks. Most cars didn't have cats until 75 and some trucks didn't have them until 79; nothing is really stopping you from doing some tuning.
The iron dukes and n/a buick v6s of the 80s don't have the same potential; neither do anemic fwd compacts of the early 90s.

Agree! Guy in my office has one and it is unpractical and pointless therefore I love it.

I'd daily drive a Phantom or long body S-Class. To some that is heresy.
